Narrative

Here's another tidbit. Maurice Craig and my dad were best friends. They were only 3 years apart so they grew up together and signed up to fight in WWII. Maurice went to Europe and worked as a mechanic and drove the supply lines. Daddy went to the South Pacific and built radio towers in the jungle. When they got home from the war, they double dated and Maurice actually introduced my parents to one another. Maurice was dating my mother and then one day he saw her younger sister Frances. It must have been love at first sight but he wasn't sure how to get out of dating Mama and then ask Frances out. He told my Mom that he had an uncle that didn't talk much but he was a nice guy. My mom agreed to go out with him. So, Mama married Daddy and Maurice married Frances. Maurice worshipped the ground Frances walked on! They were quite a pair. So Maurice was my cousin on one side of the family and my uncle by marriage on the other. I always called him Uncle though. He was my favorite. Maurice was the life of every party! Whenever I visited him or Maggie, I always knew I was loved alot! - Jayne Gillen
