JESSIE GILLEY
Jessie Dell Gilley, 93, of Hillsboro died Thursday, January 9, at a local hospital. She was born April 15, 1909 near Frost, daughter of Jesse O. and Virgie Mayfield Johnson. She had lived in Brandon most of her life before moving to Hillsboro eight years ago. She was a retired postmistress for the Brandon Post Office and a member of Irene Church of Christ and Rebecca Lodge. She married Ike Gilley February 18, 1925 in Malone, and he preceded her in death April 8, 1984. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include: one daughter, Margaret Taylor of Hillsboro; one sister, Annie Bess Johnson of Hillsboro; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 11, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Harrell Wilson officiating. Burial was at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to Brandon Community Center, P. O. Box 111, Brandon 76628.
