From the eTruth (Elkhart Truth) Newspaper: GOSHEN -- Edwina L. Gorden, 98, of 1222 Greencroft Drive, died at 2:43 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 11, 2004) at Goshen General Hospital after a short illness. She was born April 21, 1906, in Milford to William and Rosa (Duker) Nickler and married Israel Gorden on March 3, 1928, in Elkhart. He died Aug. 2, 2001. She is survived by one daughter, Berneita (Don) Smucker of Middlebury; three sons, Dr. William (Farah) Gorden of Stow, Ohio, Dr. Robert (Carolyn) Gorden of Mattoon, Ill., and John (Penny) Gorden of Lesterville, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rosalie (Rev. Earl) Prignitz of Richmond. She was preceded in death by one son, Bruce Gorden, and six brothers, Forest, David, Seward, Alvin, Loyal and Robert. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 S. Main St. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Middlebury Church of the Brethren, 507 W. Bristol Ave., Middlebury. Revs. Dan Petry and Russell Jensen of the church will officiate. A private graveside service will be at Grace Lawn Cemetery before the memorial service. A homemaker, Mrs. Gorden lived in the area since 1949. She was a member of Middlebury Church of the Brethren and enjoyed knitting afghans, reading and being with her family.
