Maiden name gathered from the 1880 census, where a Raleigh Cannon, about the right age, is listed with the Duncans. Mary Duncan is the right age for the Mary listed on the 1900 census. An Ancestry.com member had "Mary Duncan" listed as his first wife, but with no source to back it up. Perhaps it was heard through oral family history but this seems to confirm it.
