Narrative
West Bros. Construction. My uncle Chandler had a contractor's license and when he went to Guatemala, my dad got his and called the business "West Bros. Construction". Previously Chandler had a crew and did most of the framing and rough work, then my dad would come in with a crew and do the finish work. After Chandler came back, he worked for my dad and they had a much smaller group.
On the left is Richard Gonzales, whose sons Seth and Satch were good friends with myself and Beau, respectively. We formed the "Super Seven Detective Club", but mostly just played with bikes, go-carts, and invented glue.
In the middle is Eric Niemann, who sent our family to Hawaii in appreciation for my dad helping to build his house (he'd work in the evenings and weekends). Down near that piece of property he had was a small creek that we'd play in and send wooden "boats" (pieces of wood) down. They would get stuck on the bank, grass, or roots so we tried to come up with good designs. I designed a diamond-shaped boat that dad cut out with his saw. I was disappointed when I realized it was simply a square and nothing more than a raft. However, it did bounce off the sides of the creek fairly well and ended up getting further without getting stuck, so that was nice.
